Big Band Soul by Gene Harris

Gene Harris is one of the finest big band pianists to come along on the jazz scene, and his lyrical piano stylings are legend. In this 2-CD set, the listening audience is treated to two of Gene Harris' best albums, LIVE AT TOWN HALL, N.Y.C., and WORLD TOUR 1990. Both CDs contain previously released material.

There are 13 songs on disc one. There are 14 songs on disc two. Some of the great performances are "Love Is Here To Stay," "Old Man River," "Porgy and Bess Medley," "Centerpiece," "There Is No Greater Love," "Buhaina Buhaina," "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning," "Warm Valley," "Dear Blues," "Girl Talk," among others.

It is Gene Harris Superband at its best, and a nice addition for any CD collector of big band piano and big band music. His treatment of "In The Wee Small Hours Of The Morning" is memorable and a classic rendition of a classic standard.

Don't miss out on this 2CD set of Gene Harris and his big band sound, for it is a really pleasant way to spend an evening. Entertaining. Enjoyable.
