The Cats Meow (movie soundtrack) by Various Artists

This movie soundtrack was a delight. THE CAT'S MEOW features 1920s jazz vocals, and jazz music of the 1920s. Paul Whiteman's original recording of "Charleston" is featured among others songs from the 1920s.

There are 16 songs on this collection, and each in its own way is a gem of 1920s era musical expression. Clarence Williams' Blue Five featuring Sydney Bechet performing the Thomas Fats Waller/Clarence Williams song, "Wild Cat Blues," is another gem. Ian Whitcomb and His Bungalow Boys do a delightful rendition of "Ain't We Got Fun" featuring the voice of Chiara Schoras. Al Jolson sings "Avalon" and "California Here I Come," two of his big hit songs from many during his vocal career! Kirsten Dunst with Ian Whitcomb and His Bungalow Boys team up for a nice take on the old standard, "After You've Gone."

Some of the other lively songs include "When I Lost You," Everybody Loves My Baby," "Breeze," "Whispering," among others.

This is a first rate collection of 1920s era music.

If you enjoy this sound, and it is a fine sound, you will want to own THE CAT'S MEOW. The movie stars Kirsten Dunst, Cary Elwes, Edward Herrman, Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley, and Jennifer Tilly.

Buy the CD soundtrack, see the movie! Great entertainment and great fun for all jazz listeners.
