Still supreme, still the apogee of Trane and the quartets’ powers. If I went on with scholarly hyperbole you’d all see right through me and, if ‘A Love Supreme’ was about anything, it was about cutting through the bull to the core, to the essence of what makes us great.

Expanded with the only live recording from Antibes ‘65 and sextet versions with Archie Shepp and Art Davis of ‘Acknowledgment’. Remastered by Rudy Van Gelder with extensive annotation and liners. An indisputable five stars.
