Little Red Robin is the third CD by Mary Ellen Spann, a Dallas-based singer and songwriter.

The recording brings together 10 songs from the past and Spann’s original "Guess I Lost Me For Awhile."

While Spann may not have the most distinctive voice, it is very pleasant, and she gracefully keeps songs swinging. She’s a throwback of sorts, a pop singer with a simple yet sunny way with a song. The CD highlights Spann’s smooth, golden tones.

Her previous album, "Heart Soar," contained mostly original work. This new CD is centered around a selection of well-known tunes, including "Willow Weep For Me," "I Cover the Waterfront," "What A Little Moonlight Can Do," and "Tea For Two." Much of the material has a playful bounce.

Spann has assembled a team of Texas-based musicians to provide support. They include Joe Lee on guitar; Lee Tomboulian, piano and accordion; Dan Wojciechowski, drums; Wayne Delano, saxophone; Noel Johnston, guitar; and Joel Fountain, drums.

"Little Red Robin" is on Spann’s indie label "China Alley Records." It marks her first time as a sole producer.

The CD fits better under the "adult contemporary" category than it does hard-core jazz.
