The Tone Cool Story Vol. 1 by Various Artists

God I love this music! It puts the S back into soul and the F back into feeling; hence, everything becomes different with a newfound perspective. These tunes will definitely put a different spin on your day.

The Tone Cool label exemplifies and acknowledges Independent music’s fortitude and carry’s on a fierce sense of obligation to keeping the originality of its artists intact with every recording. While blues and roots music has helped them to achieve great heights for many years, they have gone far beyond that to reach into the realm of rock and pop and many other genres.

This two CD set is not only a celebration of their history; it is a documentation of their diverse stable of artists. Every style gets an opportunity to show how their contributions have made the label what it is today. It is the people that make the music and people at the label that enable each artist to be an individual. Looking at a label like this and a corporate conglomerate is like trying to compare a super Wal-Mart with a Ma & Pa General Store, there really is no comparison. In essence, the label and its artists are a true reflection of what they really are.

The music is simply wonderful. From the blues diva Susan Tedeschi (reincarnate of Janis Joplin) to Double Trouble to The Love Dogs, the variety and range of the music is remarkable. This compilation is the perfect set to throw into your stereo at a party or gathering and watch people’s reactions. Within minutes, folks will be asking you "Who was that?" or "What was the name of that song?" This compilation is so universal that anyone could find something that is appealing. As simplistic and as down to earth as the label professes to be, in turn their artists embody that within their music. As they say, one hand washes the other. I cannot think of a better label to use as an example of that philosophy than Tone Cool. There is nothing superficial about this organization or the music. This is the real deal people and some of the best music available today.
