The Clifford Brown Project by Mark Masters Ensemble

This collection pays tribute to the great trumpet work of Clifford Brown by way of performing some of his compositions. The arrangements are by Mark Masters except for three which were written by Jack Montrose. The collection delights as well as entertains.

There are ten songs on the CD. Among them is the hauntingly beautiful "Joy Spring," with a solo version by Cecilia Coleman, and another version featuring solo work by Gary Smulyan on baritone saxophone, Tim Hagans on trumpet, and Cecilia Coleman on piano, "Sweet Clifford," "Minor Mood," "LaRue," "Sandu," "Daahoud," the lively "Swingin,'" among others.
