Will Downing is back and in full effect. Will Downing’s new 10-track album perfectly entitled "Emotions" is a brilliant follow up to his last album "Sensual Journey." This album is a collective journey between great producers and even greater musicians. Produced by Downing and all the veterans in the business such as Barry Eastman, Chris Davis, Rex Rideout and Ronnie Foster, this project was a smooth emotional journey from one track to the next.
Crooning out A Million Ways, Will gives specific instructions to the fellas on how to please a woman (okay guys sit down and take notes) this track is without a doubt one of my favorite songs on the album. Downing teams up with Norman Brown on "King of Fools" showcasing his signature, poetic baritone vocals. With Downing’s smooth intoxicating voice and Browns musical guitar talent the song flows just like we expect it to. Just when you think it can’t get any better than this Downing hits you with a sweet rendition of "Daydreaming" in which Gerald Albright and Kirk Whalum helps to take you away. Jazz trumpeter Nicholas Payton joins Downing with "Anything." The other tracks such as "Riding on a Cloud," "Beautiful to Me," featuring George Duke and "Rhythms of U & Me" are all great love songs that yearned to be listened to one after the other. This album keeps you wanting more and more of Will.
This project has paved the way again for all the true love song balladeers, if you can’t run with the big dogs, get on the porch. Will Downing giving us his best project yet, is definitely running in the lead of the pack. This is the album you must own and add to your collection of great love songs.
