Two Seconds to Midnight by Alan Baylock Jazz Orchestra

Alan Baylock’s Two Seconds to Midnight CD features two original compositions by Alan (Two Seconds to Midnight and Sea Changes), along with innovative orchestral arrangements of songs written by Pat Metheny (Song for Balbao), Cole Porter (Night and Day), and Duke Ellington (Cottontail). By taking advantage of the colorful palette an orchestra supplies, the Two Seconds to Midnight‘s composer/arranger offers a refreshing and bold step in modernizing the orchestral jazz approach. With an excellent array of musicians, this is, without question, a sincere and noble attempt at experimentation without demanding too much from the listener. As it should be, this CD is all about the music. This is an excellent starting point for Alan Baylock's Jazz Orchestra.
