The where-with-all, & multi-facet-ted-ness of Mintzer & Brecker are legendary. And, if you want a CD jazz project to sound like aCD jazz project, both Randy & Bob are easy choices for sidemen.I can't resist quoting from the back page of the disc suggestingthat the CD is a 'multi-tiered amalgamation of grooves." Indeed it is, as Bob, Randy, & the group groove on with stinging accents, and crisp fills, framing their solid polytechnic solos. There's a littlebit for all idioms in this project: Fusion, latin, bebop, Avant-Garde, et al.........A kind of a welcome radical departure from thesometime overwhelming, rote, & relentless 'beat' of 'the usual.' Ride on guys!
