Lumpy Jazz by Jeff Berlin

Indicative of the massive level of assorted talent contained on Florida's west coast, is Bassist Jeff Berlin's latest CD effort,'Lumpy Jazz.' I relegate the reader's attention to Berlin's originalcomposition 'Everyone Get's Old' & the taintless & precise structure of bebop that Jeff, & his sidemen Danny Gottleib-drums, & Richard Drexler-piano, deliver to our ears for our enlightenment. Berlin's bass artistry unfolds from the simple to the extreme...........In that his horn lines are beautifully impressionistic contrapuntal improvisations, that few are capable of executing. His delivery is to say the least 'imposing.' However, his probing harmonic & melodic import, as wellas the rhythmic drive of his lines...............These both are simplybrilliant. This CD project deserves a '10' from this reviewer. (Reviewer's note: 'Lumpy Jazz' is available @:www.jeffberlinmusic.com)
