The most compelling tune on this album is "Gnomesayin' which translated, is obviously Know What I'm Sayin' in the vernacular of the street. This song is in a be bop mode and quickly gets off the ground with a nice piano solo by Kahn and a swinging sax message from Almario plus the fine trumpet work of John Fumo. Brian Bromberg's rapid fire bass soliloquy is a mind boggling excursion into ultra facility and ideation.
This recording is a prime example of jazz as it should be played.
