I'm not nuts about the 'Smooth Jazz' idiom. As a strong proponent of swing & bebop, my subjective analysis of smooth jazz is.........It's rock music disguised in jazz clothing!! However, I concede that it's a definite genre that has to be reckoned with, & it is from this backdrop that I state: Smooth jazz guitarist 'Lino' has given me cause to think more about my feelings. This guy has a whole different organic take on smooth jazz. His music & artistry is much more personal & human...........This, in opposition to the supra-clinical drone of smooth jazz that I hear on many jazz stations. Let me make one disclaimer about my feelings once again about smooth jazz. I don't mean to ruffle any feathers or offend any smooth jazz-philes out there in reader-land. These are my personal feelings, for which anyone is entitled. I speak the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth. I'm not trying to set up a 'Kilroy-Mc Coy' fencing match with any of my readers. Feelings aside, smooth jazz guitarist 'Lino' ranks prime among his many contemporary monster guitarists out there in the ether. He certainly has gained my respect. Ciao!
