There is a beautiful contemporary instrumental piano album out, SAPPHIRE DAYS by ANN SWEETEN. This is her fifth album. It is solo piano with strong melodies. Her style is soft and jazzy and should appeal to jazz fans.
Her last non-seasonal recording went to Number 3 on the national NAV airplay chart meaning it was one of the most-played albums of modern instrumental music in North America.
With songs inspired by animals and different aspects of nature, SAPPHIRE DAYS has melodies that quickly sound familiar as they reach out and affect the listener in a primal and earthy manner. You can also hear hints of classical and Broadway show tunes in her composing. Two of the strongest tunes are "Thin Ice" and a piece she wrote when her dog died (according to the CD's notes), "A Prayer for Shazu."
