Live...In the Moment by Ken Serio

Drummer Ken Serio has orchestrated an energetic array of fusion in real time with real success! Out of the Tripping Tree label will come an eclectic sound within a live setting that just stimulates the room it’s spun in. From the Muscle Car overtones of "Big Blue Cars," with its fast and furious fusion vibes, each cut has its own driven attitude, A double disk set that starts off 2008 hitting the checkered flag!

Live.... In the Moment is what it is! These four artists just fly with the fury of a wild stallion. Serio and company take the audience with them as they explore any sound that escapes their minds, a very unique yet strategic undertaking. Mark Egan on bass simply sets the foundation along with Ken Serio’s percussion. With the string tandem of Vic Juris and Pete McCann, each gifted in their own right, offers up their signature personality traits of each adventure on the two discs.

Even with the complex edge many fusion pieces are associated with, this effort brings the best of a number of jazz tastes and styles into one sweet time. "Tomorrow’s Another Day" has that bluesy appeal as it romances the listener into hypnotic bliss. The manipulation of strings just melts the music into your evening with its several mood swings. A strong example of the diversity of this fine quartet! One of the disks best!!! Serio goes off and out with "The Return of Doctor Zero," which comes at you from several unexpected directions. From the onset of the skins in the intro, the listener calculates their entrance into a fusion educational seminar. One of the shortest pieces on the project its impact has much to say.

Serio’s Live.... In the Moment delivers an exhilarating spin for even the most embryonic of jazz fans. The effects will be numerous and the results even more welcome. One of the new seasons’s better starts in fusion.
