Planet Safety by Bob Gullotti Leo Genovese Dave Zinno

Planet Safety is a wonderful introduction to the jazz expressions of Bob Gullotti, Leo Genovese, and Dave Zinno. These three individuals deliver fine performances with each artist giving superb solo interpretations.

There are eleven songs on the CD. Among the interesting songs are such jazz gems as "Pinocchio," "Voices," "Three Things," "Planet Safety," "Alone Together," "Humpty Dumpty," a section named "Three Cycle Laundry Machine" which includes "Cycle 1: Agitate," Cycle 2: Rinse," and "Cycle 3: Spin," "United," and "Solar." Each jazz piece will appeal to different jazz listeners for different reasons. "Alone Together" and "Solar" are but two innovative listening adventures in this fine journey of creative jazz sounds. "Voices" has some unusual approaches and the jazz motifs are clear, solid, and well-performed. "Solar" is a fine piece, running around five minutes in play time, and there is much to reccomend it to the jazz listening audience for its imagery and tone. "Pinocchio" is tops in performance, and something to enjoy over and over again with a running time of over nine minutes which passes all too quickly in an enjoyable fashion.

The performances are sharp, clear, innovative, and enjoyable. If you are interested in something unusual, this is your cup of coffee or tea. Nice work from each musician.
