Tonight’s jazz was a diet served up high in carbs; rich with the American songbook standards, easy on the ears and a swing that was as elastic as granddaddy’s pants. In JVC’s 19th year sponsoring jazz in the Big Apple, a Jazz Party for Phil Woods celebrated this jazz giant in an evening filled with many little highlights and surprises.
