Miguel Romero began expressing himself through music as far back as he can remember,on the most basic of instruments. During the past days, art director Karl Heinz Ern announced the definitive program of the 18th New Orleans Jazz Ascona festival. From June 28 to July 7, 2002, the Swiss town on the shores of Lake Maggiore will host no less than 250 concerts on 14 stages, for a total of 450 hours of music.

Alyn Shipton wins the 'Jazz Writer of the Year' Award for his New History of Jazz in the British Hamlet Jazz awards. The prize was presented at last week's ceremony by Humphrey Lyttelton, who described the book as 'the definitive history of jazz'.

Aziza, formerly known as Linda Williams wrote the platinum hit "La Costa" which was recorded by Natalie Cole and re-recorded by several other artists, among them being jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal and the late Jorge Dalto.

Aziza was Natalie Cole's musical director and pianist for 5 years, touring the U.S., Europe and Japan.
