Bassist/Composer Bruno Råberg's Chrysalis (Orbis Music) Coming November 30th

BOSTON, MA -- Boston-based bassist/composer Bruno Råberg is proud to announce the November 30th release of his fifth recording as a leader, Chrysalis (Orbis Music OM404), on his own Orbis Music label. This new recording features nine diverse Råberg originals written specifically for his new all-star nonet of notable veteran Boston and New York musicians.

"Bruno Råberg knows how to make a nonet sing," wrote Boston Phoenix columnist Jon Garelick following the group's recent Boston appearance. "[His] music moves in subtle, wave-like rhythmic variations through extended song forms colored by warm, pastel harmonies and tone colors." Joining Råberg on Chrysalis are frequent collaborators saxophonist Allan Chase, trumpeter Phil Grenadier, and drummer Marcello Pellitteri, as well as fellow Swede Anders Boström (flutes), Donny McCaslin (clarinet and saxophones), Jeff Galindo (trombone), Tim Kelly (bass trombone), and legendary Boston guitarist Mick Goodrick.

Bruno Råberg has toured the world since 1974, working with renowned European jazz artists like Eje Thelin, Bobo Stenson, and Monica Zetterlund before relocating to America from his native Sweden on scholarship to New England Conservatory in 1981. He has been a professor and world-traveling clinician at Boston's Berklee College of Music since 1986, while also actively performing/recording internationally with the likes of Sam Rivers, Billy Hart, Orange Then Blue, George Garzone, Rachel Z and Ken Schaphorst among many others. His own groups have included premier players such as Bruce Barth, Jerry Bergonzi, Mick Goodrick, Bob Moses, and Yoron Israel. More information is available at
