Denver jazz euphoniumist releases debut CD

Jazz euphoniumist, Tom Ball, has released his debut CD titled the Tom Ball Quartet - Fishleather Jacket. This recording is currently receiving heavy air play on Denver's jazz radio station KUVO 89.3 FM. His playing style evokes images of a euphonium playing Freddie Hubbard, Miles Davis, or Tom Harrell. He has appeared as a sideman playing euphonium on several recordings including Hard Times by saxophonist and Capri Records recording artist, Keith Oxman. Tom Ball was a featured artist at the 2005 Rocky Mountain International Tuba and Euphonium Conference. Denver is home to Ball who is one of the world's few active recording and performing jazz euphonium players. The CD features 8 original compositions by Ball who independently produced this project with drummer Ben Makinen. Compositions include a mix of Latin-Jazz, straight-ahead, bebop and blues. Other musicians include Eric Thorin-bass and Vlad Girshevich-piano. Listen to audio clips, write a review or purchase CD at Learn more about Tom Ball at
