Tuesday, December 3, 2002: JIMMY SCOTT: IF YOU ONLY KNEW
The Tuesday, December 3rd program begins at 7:30 PM with JIMMY SCOTT: IF YOU ONLY KNEW (2002, Celebrity Ashtray Prod., 77 min.) directed by Matthew Buzzell. For over five decades, jazz vocalist Jimmy Scott has amazed music lovers and his peers with his unique phrasing and radiant, almost angelic stage presence. IF YOU ONLY KNEW is a beautiful and affectionate portrait of Scott's art and life -- from his mother's tragic early death, his emergence as a major jazz artist in the 1950's, through Scott's missing years in the 1970's, to his triumphant return in the last two decades. Jazz Legend Jimmy Scott to introduce the screening. Discussion following with director/cinematographer Matthew Buzzell and producer Brian Gerber. Please note: If you have your ticket stub from the cancelled July 16th screening at the Egyptian, you will be admitted without charge to this show (but you must bring your ticket stub to the box office to exchange it for a new ticket.).
Preview tapes and press kits are available at the American Cinematheque offices. Photos are available by e-mail.
