The Jazz Spot is Brooklyn’s newest, coziest Jazz café which is owned by two African American women, a mother and daughter team, whose main endeavor is to keep Jazz alive. In conjunction with bassist Kim Clarke they are putting together a women’s jazz festival entitled "LADY GOT CHOPS" Women’s Month Jazz Festival for the month of March. This spectacular month of events features some of the greatest female Jazz Artists around today. The line up includes:

Bertha Hope - piano-legend and spouse of the late Elmo Hope (Mar 16-solo) (22, 29)
Rachel Z - gifted pianist recently featured with Peter Gabriel (Mar 1)
Cindy Blackman - powerhouse drummer with Lenny Kravitz (Mar 14)
Sheryl Bailey - virtuoso guitarist featured with the Richard Bona Group (Mar 7)
Jill McCarron - fiery pianist soon to release first solo CD (Mar 21)
Keisha St.Joan - charming Jazz vocalist of Brooklyn (Mar 20-lecture) (22)
Aziza Miller - exotic song stylist/pianist mentor to Alicia Keys (Mar 8)

This multicultural event will be held in the coziness of the Jazz Spot. The exposed brick walls, fireplace, smoke and alcohol free environment provide a perfect atmosphere in which one may enjoy the sultry sounds and exotic interpretations of these lovely ladies.
The JAZZ SPOT is located at 375 Kosciuszko Street on Marcus Garvey Boulevard, Brooklyn, N.Y. 11221. Performances on Friday and Saturday are $25 at the door, $22 in advance and 5 series tickets for $100. Lectures, workshops and solo performances are $10.
