Jazz virtuoso Brian Culbertson’s popularity is easy to understand given the fact that he’s a multi-instrumentalist as well as multi-tasking writer, arranger and producer! His critically acclaimed Nice & Slow owned Billboard magazine’s top spot on the Jazz charts for six weeks in 2002. And Culbertson’s high energy stage presence and eclectic sense of humor has made him a welcome regular, headlining jazz festival and radio-sponsored events, included a two-year stint with the Dave Koz-helmed "Smooth Summer Nights."

Who else was along for the ride? Fellow labelmate Norman Brown. And a musical partnership and groove was formed, especially for live performances and touring.

As Culbertson puts it: "So much energy comes from performing in front of a live audience I just close my eyes and allow myself to get enveloped in the music."

Contemporary jazz great Norman Brown has quickly established himself as one of the preeminent jazz guitarists of his time, often compared to guitar legends such as Wes Montgomery and George Benson. Over the course of four landmark releases and constant touring worldwide, Brown has set a standard of virtuosity that has placed this Shreveport, Lousiana native in a categeory of one.

And by teaming up with the keyboardist Culbertson, this dynamic jazz duo will set the smooth jazz stage Friday, Sept. 19th at the Pabst Theater. Come hear for yourself.

The Pabst Theater located in the heart of Milwaukee at 144 E. Wells Street has raised its golden curtain on more than 25,000 performances. A treasure house of theater history, it is the fourth-oldest continuously operating theater on the same site in the United States. Virtually every great name in 20th century music, dance, and drama has graced the Pabst Theater stage.
