NYC based pianist/vocalist Alex Leonard new album releases

"Down In The Depths: Interpretations of Cole Porter" (Library of Congress catalog number: LCCN-2002597038) features newly arranged and re-harmonized compositions by Cole Porter. In this recording he manages to produce a unique approach to the music while maintaining a strong link to the best of the tradition. This album includes some of the finest jazz musicians from the New York City area including: Al Gafa (guitar), Paul Rostock (bass), Vito Lesczak (drums), Ed Jackson (congas), Don Hahn (trumpet), Ralph LaLama (Sax), Gary Smulyan (Sax), John Mosca (trombone), Jimmy Knepper (trombone). It has received wonderful reviews from Show Business, All About Jazz, Cadence and many others.

"Merry Cool Christmas" is a traditional jazz Christmas featuring swinging and romantic holiday classics. Unique, warm and inviting arrangements that add atmosphere and ambiance to the holidays. This album features Alex along with Edward Brown on guitar/lute, Steve LaSpina on bass, Danny Venditti on Drums and Rijou on percussion. It was recorded at Bennett Studios in Englewood, New Jersey.
