Berklee Assistant Music Business/Management Chair John Kellog Elected President of Music and Enterta

Berklee Assistant Music Business/Management Chair John Kellogg Elected President of Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association Boston, MA, March 9, 2009 John Kellogg, assistant chair of music business/management at Berklee College of Music, has been elected president of the of Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA), an international organization of educators and students of music business. He is the first African American elected to this post. Kellogg will assume his new role at the annual MEIEA conference, March 27-28, at Berklee. Says Kellogg, "It's an honor to serve MEIEA in a new capacity at a time of great change in the music industry. I believe the research and teaching of academics in this discipline will greatly inform industry professionals as they develop new 21st century music business models. I hope to increase the dialogue between the industry and academia as we confront the great challenges facing us." John Kellogg was the lawyer for the O'Jays for nearly 25 years and represented the late Gerald Levert his entire career. Before attending law school he recorded and performed with the popular group Cameo. His book, Take Care of Your Music Business: The Legal and Business Aspects You Need to Know to Grow in the Music Industry, has been highly recommended for law students and lawyers who are new to the field of entertainment law. He is also a member of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association (BESLA) Hall of Fame.
