Hot New Jazz Artist in Atlanta - Rod Young

There’s a hot, new Artist in Atlanta and he’s ready to take the industry by storm with his fresh approach to Jazz music! Rod Young has released his brand new CD entitled, "Atlanta Chilled," which features a musical adaptation of the hearts and minds of the people of Atlanta from Midtown to Spaghetti Junction and the traps in the hood, to the so-called intellectual elite. This chart-topping CD is sure to have listeners mesmerized with its top songs, "The Trap" and "Terminus." The CD is released on the HOUSE of IDIOM label as a 13 song "Jazz Masterpiece." The CD sells for $16.99.

Young said his challenge with "Atlanta Chilled" was to create emotional timeless music that reflects the city. "Atlanta Chilled is a collection of songs that reflect the life and emotions of the people of Atlanta," said Young. "The music reflects reality, from the daily grind of the city life to the complex night life."

Young, who earned his B.S. in Computer Science from Louisiana Tech University, said it is his hope that people who buy and listen to his CD will take away the freshness of the sound. "I want people who are not from Atlanta to have a clear and concise picture of the Atlanta I know. I also want people who appreciate Jazz to say to themselves "Wow that’s new!’"

And Young should know exactly what Atlanta has to offer. A native of Wurzberg, Germany, Young was raised in Louisiana and now has been living in Atlanta long enough to be "from" here.

Young said many great artists have helped him reach the level where he is today in music, pointing out that he has always been a big fan of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. "Their music is beautiful, complete, and each song tells a story from beginning to end.  He also enjoys the music of Bill Evans because of "his amazing melodies, his creativity, and how his piano performances are a window into his soul."

Young is no stranger when it comes to producing top sounds. His first CD entitled, "Deluxe Eden," had 8 songs when originally released, but listeners are in for a treat with his second CD. Young has added 5 more songs to give it a full CD feel and he added it as a bonus CD to the "Atlanta Chilled" project so purchasers of "Atlanta Chilled" would surely get more than their moneys worth.
