Layla Angulo has a new Latin jazz CD"Live at the Triple Door".
This CD was recorded live, February 2005, at one of the hottest new theatre/dining clubs in the US. Layla is the composer, saxophonist, and musical director of her 11-piece Latin Jazz orchestra featured on this independently produced project.
Layla has been playing sax since age 10 and performing in clubs since age 14. Some of the musicians she has performed with more recently include George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars, George Clinton Jr., James Brown's band, Hadley Caliman (Dexter Gordon, Freddie Hubbard, Mongo Santamaria), Julian Priester (Herbie Hancock, Duke Ellington, Max Roach), Paoli Mejias (Eddie Palmieri), and Joe Santiago's Salsa All Stars including Giovani Hidalgo and many others.
Layla previously released one Latin Jazz CD with all original compositions. The fierce enthusiasm and encouragement of her loyal fan base keep pushing Layla to even higher musical planes and she is in fact already back in the studio recording her 3rd CD with some of the most accomplished Latin Jazz recording artists.
As one of a handful of women instrumentalists performing in the Latin Jazz genre, Layla may very well be the only female saxophonist/composer of authentic Latin and Afro/Peruvian Jazz in the world today. To learn more about Layla or purchasing the CD, please visit her website.
