"We are delighted to welcome Cormac into the CANDID fold. He is a uniquely talented vocalist as well as being an accomplished songwriter. His seemingly effortless professionalism bodes well for a long and successful international career," says Alan Bates.
Cormac follows CANDID’S successes in recent years, particularly with young jazz vocalists, having provided the launch pad for previously unknowns, Jamie Cullum, Stacey Kent and Clare Teal, all of whom have gone on to enjoy hugely successful international careers and worldwide recognition.
In just three years as a performer in Ireland, Cormac Kenevey has managed to become one of the country's finest jazz singers, "I'm delighted to have the opportunity to get the albums out there and perform to international audiences. This will really raise the bar for me as a performer and recording artist. I'm also hoping this will increase the profile of Irish jazz on the international scene because there are a lot of really great musicians here considering the size of the country," - says Cormac.
Cormac’s exciting debut CANDID album 'This is Living' is a collaboration with some of Dublin’s finest musicians and features dynamic contributions by pianist Phil Ware’s trio with Dave Redmond (bass) and Kevin Brady (drums). The band is completed with Danny Healy (trumpet), Karl Ronan (trombone) and Robert Geraghty (reeds).
The album launch took place at Whelan’s in Dublin on June 6th followed by the London launch at the renowned Pizza Express Jazz Club on June 8th.
These dates are followed by an extensive UK and Ireland tour, before Cormac and his band embark on a European promotional tour scheduled to begin later this year.
