Working through updated and witty arrangements of such classic material as Meyer, Kahn and Caesar's, "Crazy Rhythm", Yvain's "My Man", and Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood", the saxophonist, known for his sensual and smoky tone, soulfully explores music from as early as the 1920's with arrangements that are distinctive and personal.
"I made sure to think about what these songs represent", says the recently appointed Temple University music faculty member, "The intent of their creation, the distinctive qualities that make them what they are, the human condition at the time of their creation, as well as how they compare to the songs of today". These songs have undoubtedly withstood the test of time. The purity of these compositions make them great vehicles for expression".
