Marco Pignataro
|
A native of Bologna, the charming and highly cultural university town in northern Italy, Marco Pignataro began his musical studies at the ıBruno Madernaı Conservatory of Music. At this fine classical institution, Marco majored in classical saxophone under the prestigious guidance of Maestro Gilberto Monetti, a celebrated recording classical saxophonist (Saxophone Journal, Vo.l 18, No.5). Just soon after Marcoıs third year of study, Maestro Monetti invited the young saxophonist to be the new sax baritone player of his long-standing recording classical quartet, the ıNuovo Quartetto dıAnceı, and to give recitals in concert halls and music festivals all around Italy.
For the last two years, Marco has been a contributing writer for the influential American magazine Jazz Improv. As a reviewer and columnist, Marco has also conducted interviews with artists such as Branford Marsalis, Gary Campbell, Jerry Bergonzi, David Sınchez and Miguel Zenın. Marcoıs column, Style & Influence, is regularly featured in this outstanding quarterly magazine - (Style: Contemporary Jazz)

Mika Pohjola
|
Mika Pohjola was born in Helsinki, Finland on December 1, 1971; 20 years (to the day) after Jaco Pastorius. If you believe in astrology, you may draw some conclusions; but 1971 I believe was a slightly milder year at least on that day than 1951. Anyway, after studying in Sweden...
