Ellington's on Eighth was started MOTHER'S DAY, 1998 by two sisters who love jazz, good conversation, community building and cooking their favorite recipes. Long time residents of Capitol Hill, their vision was to make a casual but elegant place to come to dine, listen to poetry/jazz. Also part of their vision was to make Ellington's a training ground for those aspiring to begin a career in culinary arts and hospitality. Ellington's has a special relationship with community based training organizations. It is a unique and wonderful partnership. This endeavor leaves a good taste in your mouth, heart, and soul combining great food, great music, and a great master plan that makes people's lives and the community richer.
Ellington's features Jazz EVERY evening (Thursday 8:30p/Friday & Saturday 9p/ Sunday 5p), neighborhood networking on Wednesday evenings, and other special events, like Open Mic Poetry w/ Live Jazz on Wednesdays at 7pm.
It is truly an oasis where people can come together and enjoy good food, good music, and a soulful experience of coming home. The food is that good, the jazz that mellow, and the service that attentive that you'll want to come back again and again to sample this great but affordable menu.
