"An electrifying debut from the drummer who calls herself "Rock-n-Roll Jones." There's something exciting about your first time with a favorite find. The feeling is fresh, the voice is new, you never know what's going to happen next... when these songs come spilling out into your world, they will thrill you. This album will go on to ace the test of time" Efraim Goldstein. - (Style: Fusion)

From the "Prospects" disc, a pasionate minor blues dedicated to Chris' childhood schoolmate and guitar soulmate who passed away before his time. From recording notes on Chris' site; "He took out this guitar and played some blues for me. It left such an impression on me that I asked him to teach me how to do it. We would jam the blues after school everyday. It kept me out of trouble. He turned me on to Jeff Beck "Wired" which contains Jeff's version of the Mingus' "Good-bye Porkpie Hat". I fashioned this song after that one as my way of thanking him". - (Style: Fusion)

A rare cut from a HAO (guitar equipment maker) CD that became sort of an underground fusion classic. Only a thousand promotional discs where manufactured and most where given away free. "Bug Lips" is an interesting song that leans more towards Chris' rock side of the fusion genre. Chris says of this song; "Sounds a little wacky." Hard to find but there are some free copies of this CD still avaliable from various sites. - (Style: Fusion)

Ramsey Lewis & Nancy Wilson
|
Two gifted Grammy-winners, together again for the first time in nearly 20 years - Ramsey Lewis in an acoustic jazz trio setting featuring five stunning vocal performances by Nancy Wilson. During the 2001 season, Nancy Wilson performed at the Ravinia Festival. Ramsey Lewis, the Artistic Director of Jazz, was chatting backstage with his longtime friend. Lewis paused and said, "We should do something together." Miss Wilson replied, "You're right - it's been too long." MEANT TO BE is the result.
The album marks the first time Lewis and Wilson recorded in the same studio. Even during their 1984 collaboration THE TWO OF US (produced by Stanley Clarke), each recorded their tracks separately. Seventeen years later, their new offering showcases two legends in top form: Wilson's vocal stylings on standards are a velvety and lilting overlay to Lewis' elegant keys. Complemented by six tracks in an acoustic trio setting, MEANT TO BE reflects the timelessness of a great art form performed by two of its masters. - (Style: Jazz Vocals)

Latin jazz(samba medium)-Top chart position #22 at Mp3.com
"There’s a sexy Latin sway to Bimjo. The nylon strung acoustic guitar sounds gorgeous. The tone is very jazzy.Listening to this places me on the balcony of a funky wooden beach house which I can imagine but which I’ve not visited – yet." Chris Mann-

COMMENTS:
"Parque Urquiza* What a CooooooL Vibe and Groove to this song!
YESSSS!!! A Funky solid groove that just makes you and you want to hear again and again................
Thank-you Daniel for this ONE-derful tune and playing by all!!!!! Looking forward to hearing more of your music*" MORRIS CODE - mp3.com
"Funky and lighthearted, these tune won't let go of he groove! The energy and playing are upbeat and effectively soulful.Daniel's page is comin'at you with the jazz in mind, and some cool interpretations of Latin laced sounds.
Thanks Daniel, for these joyful piece!" PATTI STERLING-mp3.com
"What a great "smooth jazz" tune this is!! Daniel Martina has really captured the essence of smooth jazz on "parque urquiza"! The musicians here are
obviously veterans who understand their roles within the group.
Great playing and great solos should make this a top song on MP3!! This is a very "uplifting" and "airy" tune with a very hummable melody that just makes you feel good. The bassist and drummer create a "deep" groove that's as
smooth as silk while the guitar, sax, and vibes have a field day with the nice
chord changes they're playing over! "parque urquiza" by Daniel Martina gets
my "FIVE STAR" rating!!" CHUCK MOORE - mp3.COM - (Style: Smooth Jazz)

Latin jazz folkloric blend(malambo-jazz blend) Top chart position: #1 at Mp3.com genre.
Tute is a folklore playing-card game very popular in Argentina. This song is dedicated to it and to our folkloric culture.
It was composed by my musician friend Sergio Santi.
"The title track is not any typical Latin track and has a slightly offbeat rhythm.I liked the percussion and keyboard sounds on this mid-paced song. The clean and very jazzy tones of Martina’s electric guitar have no trouble taking centre stage, even among the other talented and tasteful players here."-Chris Mann. Could This Love Be Real asks the question: can a love that feels so sweet and wonderful be true or is it just a dream or fantasy? A love like this can happen when two people are fully committed to one another. The Portuguese monologue in the beginning of this songs says just that. - (Style: Smooth Jazz)

Bobby McFerrin
|
McFerrin's latest album, Beyond Words, is his 12th full-length release and his first on Blue Note Records since 1992's Grammy Award-winning album Play. Like that earlier record, the new album reunites McFerrin with pianist Chick Corea, and is full of the quicksilver, improvisatory flights of musical fancy that have characterized McFerrin's extraordinary career. - (Style: Jazz Vocals)
