Medeski Martin & Wood

Like a journey – some kind of road trip shared by variety to weird, crazy or dangerous hitchhikers – Uninvisible takes listeners past, through and under many sites of interest, all of them characteristically dreamlike. Unlike some of MMW’s previous groove fests, this trip moves along at a speedy clip, leaving you wanting to linger longer at each stop instead of looking ahead to what’s next.

Perhaps one reason this disc moves so well is the circumstances under which it was recorded: The trio got together in a studio in Brooklyn, N.Y., and just jammed, laying down loads of tracks from which they selected 14 pieces to develop with producer/engineer Scotty Hard (The Word, Prince Paul, Deltron 3030, Wu-Tang Clan). - Richard Anderson - (Style: Soul / Funk Jazz)

Metalwood

For a point of reference, this track is very reminiscent of Bill Bruford’s Earthworks. U.B. the Monster is lead off again by bassist Tarry. I am impressed by every note he plays. He not only has the groove, but he has an ear for picking the right notes and making music. Too many fretless bass players wallow in “Jacoisms” or try to be some sort of bass god at the expense of the music. Chris Tarry is the real deal. - Michael Bettine - (Style: Soul / Funk Jazz)
Marcus Miller

With M2 ("M-squared"), his first studio recording since 1994, Marcus Miller deepens the groove of jazz in the new century. Featuring an all-star cast and Marcus Miller's distinctive, creative vision, M2 liberates crossover jazz from its conventional form and tonality. - (Style: Smooth Jazz)
Manuel 'Guajiro' Mirabel

- (Style: Latin Jazz / Latin Funk)
Marc Mommaas - Global Motion

Original Composition by Marc Mommaas, played by Marc Mommaas on Tenor sax and Bass clarinet, Nikolaj Hess on piano and John Hebert on bass. The band is 'Global Motion trio'. - (Style: Contemporary Jazz)
MOTIV
