Founded in 1965 as a professional jazz orchestra in residence at Columbia College Chicago, the Chicago Jazz Ensemble has become a force in the orchestral jazz tradition led by William Russo, Founder and Director. Russo's career spans five decades and includes work with talents as diverse as Leonard Bernstein, Cannonball Adderley, Yehudi Menuhin, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Seiji Ozawa, and Billy Holiday.
