2005 Chicago Jazz Festival (Petrillo Music Shell, Grant Park)
in on September 3, 2005
A large ensemble of members of the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians (AACM), the organization that spawned the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Anthony Braxton, Henry Threadgill, and many other prominent names in free-jazz circles, celebrated with a set commemorating the organization's 40th anniversary. Seated above the ensemble at one side of the stage were four of the AACM's earliest and most prominent members, including Lester Lashley. Included in the ensemble was saxophonist Hanah Jon Taylor (who had led his own Artet in a side-stage set the previous day).
