The french horn is rarely heard in jazz, but its distictive timbre makes a welcome change from saxophones and trumpets. Jim Rattigan is a polished player, and the instrument sounded particularly effective on tunes like Billy Strayhorn's "Chelsea Bridge" and Joe Henderson's "Black Narcissus".
