His profile may not be as high as the likes of Keith Jarrett or Brad Mehldau, but Bobo Stenson is certainly on a par with them. Maybe this is a good thing, since it enables us to see such a great trio in relatively intimate settings such as the Djanogly Recital Hall rather than on the larger concert platforms. The trio's music was largely from Bobo's recent CD "Goodbye" on ECM. For me, Anders Jormin was a revelation, with great intonation, a nimble technique and a lovely sound. Jon Falt, too, is someone who I hadn't encountered before but is definitely a name to watch; a young drummer with great flair and imagination.
