Bonington Theatre in Nottingham, UK on November 9, 2006
This band is part of the thriving Scottish jazz scene, and it was great to hear them "south of the border". They're equally at home on ballads or blistering up-tempo numbers - Towndrow's style has been described by James Griffiths of the Guardian newspaper as "a turbo-charged amalgam of all your saxophone heroes" and I wouldn't disagree with that! Lots of Towndrow originals, and a lovely version of the Beatles' "Across the Universe" to finish an evening of top quality music.
