The Inner Noise is an organ/guitar/drums trio, but with an important difference - the organ sounds Steve Lodder chooses are not those of a Hammond B3, but those of a church pipe organ. Asaf Sirkis' compositions also have a strong contemporary classical and progressive rock influence, so the the music could be described as a heady mix of Tony Williams' Lifetime, Olivier Messiaen and Emerson, Lake and Palmer! All three players were on top form, with Mike Outram having the fluidity of Allan Holdsworth, the attack of John McLaughlin and a great sound, and Asaf Sirkis playing like an amalgam of Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette and Gary Husband. An immensely powerful performance.
