John Donaldson's trio were the first part of a double bill (with Bheki Mseleku's quintet), and played a fine set, which reminded me of Monk and McCoy Tyner. Asaf Sirkis (returning after the previous week's concert with his own band) drummed up a storm, with more than a suggestion of Elvin Jones in his playing, and Simon Thorpe was solid on the bass.
