Featuring Tim Garland's Northern Underground Orchestra
Lincoln Jazz Consortium (The Drill Hall)
in Lincoln, UK on December 1, 2007
One of Tim Garland's many projects was the Dean Street Underground Orchestra, a nine-piece band which had a residency at London's Pizza Express Jazz Club. When he was subsequently composer-in-residence at Newcastle University, he decided to use some of the best players from the North of England along with the nucleus of the London group to form the Northern Underground Orchestra, a fourteen-piece ensemble playing expanded versions of his compositions, plus new material especially written for the group.
