The chamame music of Argentina has long been overshadowed by the tango. However, it does contain elements of both composition and improvisation. Jazz is the 'sound of surprise', and improvisation is one of its' main ingredients. So, although not technically a 'jazz' outfit, the music of Chango contains enough passion and improvisation, to qualify for inclusion. The concert was a wonderful evening of joyous rhythms and intense playing. As Astor Piazzolla was to the tango, Chango is to the chamame.
