There seems to be an increasing number of young piano trios in the UK and Europe, each updating the format in their own ways. Jeremy Brown did a splendid job deputising for regular bassist Sam Burgess - seeing Curios on a previous occasion, I was struck by the empathy between the group members, and he managed to latch on to the group dynamic, really getting inside Tom Cawley's distinctive compositions.
