Blues at the Runner (The Running Horse Pub)
in Nottingham, UK on March 21, 2008
The Running Horse is possibly Nottingham's longest-established blues venue - just the right place to see Matt Schofield, one of the UK's finest young blues guitarists. I first saw him guesting for a few numbers with Robben Ford a couple of years ago, and was impressed with his tone and his fluent playing style. With colleagues Johnny Henderson on Hammond B3 and Evan Jenkins on drums, he plays the blues with a jazzy edge, calling to mind players like Ronnie Earl and the aforementioned Robben Ford.
