Event Description: Outdoor jazz concert at a very posh restaurant featuring Atlanta's dynamic smooth jazz couple-Alan and Lita Blake.
Artist / Group Bio: Alan and Lita Blake are unparalleled in the underground independent music scene. The husband-wife group has and innovative sound that fuses several genres of music to create an intriguing resonance. Comprised of classically trained and accomplished jazz musicians and vocalists, Alan and Lita have a style all their own. It's a fusion of jazz, dance, r&b, soul, ethnic and popular music that transcends traditional borders. Alan and Lita Blake, a Georgia based duo, have toured and recorded with artists such as Rachelle Ferrell, Grover Washington Jr., George Howard (vocals on "Dancin' in the Sun" and keyboards on "Asphault Gardens") , Omar Hakim, Kevin Eubanks, Jean Carne, John Blake Jr., Gerald Veasley and have performed at functions for 100 Black Men, Jack and Jill, the Links, Morehouse School of Medicine, "Sister Sister" star Frank Reid, former Mayors of Philadelphia Wilson Goode and Ed Rendell, the Philadelphia 76ers, as well as events attended by Samuel L. Jackson, Dawn Lewis (Different World), Will Downing, George Duke and Robert Flack. All of whom have high praise for the two. This self-produced variety CD "You're The One For Me" "officially" released Oct. 2003 has already gained recognition on these websites.... Escape the hustle and bustle of city life with a relaxing getaway to Villa Christina’s secluded gardens and enjoy smooth jazz at the 4th Annual Summer Jazz Series at Villa Christina. The Summer Jazz Series offers free jazz concerts all summer long in Villa Christina’s serene oasis of calm: flourishing gardens situated next to meandering streams and cascading waterfalls. Adam Ghali, General Manager of Villa Christina, was pleasantly surprised by the huge success of the past three jazz concert series. “We’re so excited about this summer’s upcoming shows. The series is a fantastic way to spend time with family and friends, enjoying smooth jazz and delicious food and refreshing beverages outdoors. What could be a better way to spend the day?”
The Series consists of four complimentary outdoor concerts at Villa Christina, 4000 Summit Boulevard, on Sundays, June 17th, July 15th, August 19th, and September 16th, 2007. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. and music begins at 5:30 p.m. The bands that will be selected to perform at The Summer Jazz Series will be announced at a later date. Families should bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating. Children of all ages are welcome and will be delighted by free activities such as a moonwalk.
The leisurely evenings will include experiencing Atlanta’s finest jazz with family and friends as well as enjoying Villa Christina’s unsurpassed cuisine in a lovely outdoor oasis. There will be a variety of exhibitors whose products and services will be available for purchase.
Exquisite food and a variety of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be offered by Villa Christina and Caffe Christina to go for purchase on the premises. Nibble on light delicacies such as fresh shrimp and salmon salads, or feast on gourmet burgers stuffed with special seasonings, plump hot dogs with French fries, or real Italian-style pizza straight from the wood-burning-oven. Be sure to save room for an indulgent dessert such as tiramisu or cheesecake, because the food here is unsurpassed. No coolers are allowed on the grounds.
