Biography: The musical career of international recording artist, composer and guitarist Sergio Caputo, now living and working in San Francisco, California, spans over 2 decades and began in Europe with the overnight success of his first LP released in 1983. With a unique style of jazz and latin-jazz infused pop, Sergio's music defined an entirely new genre of musical style that left its imprint on the European pop music scene.

Sergio's prolific recording career produced 14 albums and numerous hits released by major labels that topped the charts year after year with which Sergio continued his experimentation of new styles of musical and lyrical expression, affirming himself as both an accomplished author as well as guitarist and performer.

Prestigious collaborations in Sergio's career include those with guest musicians on his recordings Dizzy Gillespie, Tony Scott, Mel Collins (King Crimson), Tony Bowers(Simply Red), Enrico Rava and Danilo Rea, in addition to sharing the stage with the likes of Lester Bowie and other Jazz greats over the years.

In 2004 Sergio Caputo presents his new CD release entitled "That Kind of Thing", a guitar based Smooth Jazz album. This project is a particularly important accomplishment to Sergio as he relies entirely on his music to communicate emotions, transforming it into an international language that transcends literal and cultural borders worldwide.

THAT KIND OF THING

"That Kind Of Thing" is Sergio Caputo's first entirely "Made in the U.S.A" album. It contains 10 guitar based Smooth Jazz tracks, a pinch of latin spice, lots of emotion and one singular ambition: to be heard in every corner of the world through the sole energy of his music.

The project was born in California and was recorded over the course of one year with Sergio playing exclusively all electric and classical guitars and with collaborations by Bay Area musicians Rob Sudduth and Charles McNeal on sax, Mike Olmes on trumpet and Marty Wehner on trombone.

Enrico Rava plays trumpet on the new instrumental versions of two previously recorded tracks.

"That Kind of Thing" was recorded in San Francisco and mastered at Plant Studios in Sausalito.

"That Kind of Thing" is released by independent record labels Idiosyncrasy Music and Groove Factory Recording Company, both based in San Francisco, California.
